Celebrating 28

Having my birthday at the beginning of January is great because I feel like there's an end to the year and a significant start to the new one. Last year I got a great idea from Stephanie's blog (a source of endless inspiration) to do one new thing for each year celebrated. I thought this was a challenging yet fun idea so during the year I attempted to experience 28 new things. Some were a stretch but I plan on doing a better job at pre-meditating activities I'd like to try for the new year next time. I highly recommend it -- it was a great way to make sure you were experiencing the year more fully. Here's my list:

1. Made a Mai Tai

2. Traveled with 2 kids on a plane by myself and survived

3. Went to a taping of "The Price is Right"

4. Spoke to Bob Barker (OK, not planned but cool)

5. Completed 30 acts of service in (almost) 30 days for my sister's 30th birthday

6. Traveled to North Carolina for the 1st time

7. Tried "real" BBQ as only NC can make it

8. Became an aunt

9. Tried my hand at cake decorating

10. Became an owner of an MP3 player

11. Hosted a book club

12. Tried Hypnobirthing

13. Delivered an almost 11lb baby

14. Took up jogging (never thought that would have been one of them)

15. Went to "Wicked" (hopefully the 1st of many times)

16. Sat field-side for a professional soccer game (Go Crew! and a special thanks to Value City for the VIP seats)

17. Made a fabulous diaper cake for my sister's baby shower instead of paying $100 for one

18. Helped make Cornhole bags

19. Played Nintendo Wii

20. Participated in my 1st Pinewood Derby (and even won prizes -- don't try to read what for)

21. Became the hair stylist for everyone in the family (Ruth had to help fix up some of the cuts, but I'm learning)

22. Researched how and fixed the car and the dishwasher just from online information

23. Got life insurance (finally!) taken care of

24. Successful potty-training of child #1

25. 1st major furniture purchase (a recliner)

26. 1st time to Cincinnati

27. Turned 28

28. Tried 28 new things!

Fun things! Those cakes are gorgeous and a smiling child during a haircut is a major accomplishment.

That is quite a list. I would have to give you a pat on the back for the potty training one. I just potty trained my second. It doens't get easier with the next child. But I bet you are glad it is done. Congratulations on so my achivements! Way to go!

Hello Beazer Fam! Even though I don't write, I do periodically visit your blog to catch up. Sounds like you are having some amazing experiences! Of all your accomplishments, I think playing the Wii was most likely the most difficult. Am I right? ;) Hope all is well with you!
