North Carolina

This was our first trip to North Carolina, and probably the longest road trip as a family yet. I was amazed (and grateful) for how well the kids did in the car. It gives me the confidence to try it again sometime. Mike and Tara were kind enough to put us up (and put up with us) for the weekend. They were great hosts -- showing us around the town, giving us a taste of the local food, and taking us fun places (Science Museum, Blowing Rock to hike and eat ice cream and pizza, swimming). Q was especially excited to try the famous North Carolina BBQ so we had it twice in one day along with hush puppies and coleslaw. We also tried boiled peanuts for the first time. We're glad we finally made it down there -- thanks for the fun times!

Wow! I am so proud of how quickly you got this up. Fun to look at all of the pics. We had a blast with you guys! You are always welcome to make the 7 hour drive to visit. Love ya!

That BBQ looks good.

Hopefully you can learn how to do it Q, and then maybe some day we can cook again together and share all the last few years of experience we've gained
