Sometimes when you're listening to songs you've known forever you realize that the words aren't what you've always thought them to be.
Like who knew Whitney Houston sang, "Bittersweet memories," not, "Bittersweet, than Maurice." Or there's that one song by the Clash that seems to go, "... the sheep don't like it! Lock the cash box, lock the cash box."
So what songs have you realized you were belting wrong at the top of your lungs? I remember Anna telling us one about Joe -- how did it go?

"Champagne soupin over in the sky"... turned out to be "Champagne supernova in the sky"
I'm sure I could think of more. But not this late at night. :)
Oh man, I can't think of any right now, but I am just laughing so hard because I have done that too. The funny thing is that Mike has done it with Primary songs before. Thanks for making me laugh.
I used to think the Chevrolet motor company motto was "Lock 'er up. Wa-oo, lock 'er up." Instead of "Like a rock."
Seriously. It was even written on the screen. I rock!
I'm glad you brought this up because I find myself singing the wrong words more than I would like to admit. David & I still argue whether it's "everybody was kong foo fighting, those (kicks or cats) were fast as lightening." Who knows.
I'd tell you my most notorious lyric mixup, but it's to a Barry Manilow song nobody's ever heard. :) These really do make for the best laughs though!
Here's a newer one...
"This is a hideaway. This is a hideaway." Chumbawamba- Tubthumping (I get knocked down)
Instead of "it's too late to apologize" he thought it was "it's too late to call your jive" ha ha. Funny thing is people have googled "it's too late to call your jive" and found a blog post Joe wrote about it so he must not be the only one
I found Blake belting this tune out in the car with the kids the other night...."Carry a laser down the road that I must travel. Carry a laser through the darkness of the night." It is actually "Kire ale son" a latin prayer. It made laugh really hard that he honestly thought it was carry a laser.
