My sister Dani showed up first and soon had us convinced that she should have been a firefighter instead of a mapmaker. She could fling both of those kids over her shoulder and sprint around the house! They loved having time with their aunt and Dani didn't seem to mind keeping them busy.
My cousin Melanie arrived from Mississippi soon after. We went to a 4th of July parade (where Melanie regretted teaching L that you should stand when the flag goes by -- there were LOTS of flags!), mini-golfing, a patriotic concert in the park, ice cream, a road trip to Dayton to see a high school buddy, and a friend even watched the kids so we could have a girls-only morning.
We had a great time and even though it might have been a fairly low-key visit for both of them, I was eternally grateful that they were willing to come and help out. THANKS A MILLION!
