Christmas Countdown, December 22nd

Croup and cars basically sums up our day. Both of the kids sound like barking seals. Both have fevers. C has been super cuddly and has asked to be put to bed a couple of times in the last few days. It is looking like we will be having a family-only Christmas this year. Bummer -- fondue and making cookies with friends sounded like fun.

Cars are great. And we have no complaints. Sometimes their maintenance can be stressful. How do you know what they really need? How do you know if you can trust the mechanic's assessment? How do you know if the price quote is crazy or conservative for the services required? How do you know if you might possibly do it yourself without putting lives at danger? So many difficult questions. I wish we had a close friend in the auto mechanic business. Or at least a brother in law that lived closer...

And this was from a while ago, but I ran across it and had to share. He use to pretend that he was a bird when he wanted something to eat. You'd be in the kitchen and hear a chirping behind you. Good thing this bird eats oatmeal!
